Granules in a neat bottle still call for an individual assessment. Share why herbal medicine interests you, list what else you take and ask Christine how the plan will be reviewed.
Herbal granules in a neat bottle can feel like an easy, low-key choice. Whether a preparation is appropriate, however, still depends on who is taking it, what else they use and why they are seeking care. A product a relative has used for years is still a health decision, not just a convenient purchase.
Dr Christine Shen, Acupuncturist, provides her Chinese herbal medicine as granules in containers and can talk through suitability during a herbal consultation in Lane Cove.
Share why herbal medicine appeals to you. Perhaps a friend mentioned it, you feel run down or you simply value traditional approaches. Also mention everything else you take, including prescription medicines, vitamins, protein powders and any other herbal products, and bring their details.
Using someone else’s bottle, or copying a formula a friend was given, skips the individual assessment entirely. Christine may also suggest letting your GP or pharmacist know if you take regular medicines.
Keep the bottle with its written directions and the date you plan to revisit the plan, and update Christine when any other medicine is added or stopped. Should an unexpected symptom appear, contact her for guidance rather than working out a new amount by yourself.

There is no rush to decide. At your Lane Cove visit, Christine can go through what is being considered, explain the traditional reasoning in plain language and help you judge whether herbal medicine fits your situation or whether a different path makes more sense.
