We are pleased to announce that Lane Cove Acupuncture has become a member of the Lane Cove Village Business Association. As part of the local business community, we look forward to participating in village events, supporting local initiatives, and strengthening the connections that make Lane Cove such a vibrant place to receive care. Membership reflects our long-term commitment to this community and the patients who travel from across the North Shore to visit us.
Our 9am opening seven days a week suits North Shore commuters heading into the city as well as parents managing school drop-offs. Whether you need a treatment before catching the T1 line or want to address persistent back pain before the working week begins in full, our morning appointment slots are consistently in demand. Book early to secure your preferred time. Evening appointments through to 9pm are also available for those who prefer to see us after work.
In partnership with the Lane Cove Council's Active Ageing program, Lane Cove Acupuncture has introduced a dedicated acupuncture offering for seniors aged 65 and over. Designed to address the most common health concerns in older adults — arthritis pain, balance and dizziness, sleep disruption, and low energy — the program offers accessible appointments and compassionate, experienced care. Contact us to find out more about eligibility and scheduling for this program.
We are delighted to announce the completion of a new private treatment room at the Lane Cove clinic. The new space is designed with patient comfort and privacy as priorities — larger, more comfortably appointed, and with enhanced soundproofing. It will be used for extended consultations, Bowen Therapy sessions, and patients who require a particularly calm, private environment. All existing treatment rooms remain in use. The addition allows us to serve more patients without any compromise in the quality of care we provide.
A major 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis published in leading international pain journals has reinforced the evidence base for acupuncture in chronic lower back pain — one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal conditions affecting North Shore adults. The analysis, pooling data from thousands of patients across multiple randomised controlled trials, found acupuncture to be both clinically effective and cost-effective compared to usual care. We welcome patients with chronic back pain to discuss whether acupuncture is appropriate for their situation.
We are pleased to announce a new professional referral partnership with a North Shore physiotherapy group, enabling seamless co-management of musculoskeletal conditions across both disciplines. Patients with complex pain conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation needs, or sports injuries will benefit from coordinated care between acupuncture and physiotherapy, with direct communication between treating practitioners. Details of the referral pathway are available at reception.
As Sydney moves into autumn and temperatures begin to drop, the Lung and Wei Qi (defensive energy) system comes into focus in TCM. Autumn is the ideal time to strengthen immune defences before the winter respiratory infection season. Lane Cove Acupuncture is offering immune-support acupuncture and herbal medicine consultations through April and May. Key herbs like Astragalus (Huang Qi) and Yu Ping Feng San (Jade Windscreen formula) are available for those who experience recurrent colds or low-grade fatigue as the season changes.
Our September Fertility Information Evening welcomed 35 attendees to the Lane Cove clinic for an educational session on TCM approaches to fertility, IVF support, and women's reproductive health. Dr Christine Shen presented on the evidence for acupuncture in fertility treatment, the role of Chinese herbal medicine in cycle regulation, and practical questions about integrating TCM with IVF protocols. The event was fully subscribed. We thank all who attended and will announce dates for future information evenings via our mailing list.
Most Australian private health fund extras policies reset on 1 January each year, meaning unused acupuncture and natural therapy benefits are lost if not claimed before 31 December. If you have available rebates remaining on your policy — with funds including Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB, AHM, or others — now is the ideal time to schedule those appointments. We process HICAPS rebates on the spot, so there is nothing to submit manually. Contact us to check availability before the year-end rush.
In July 2024, Lane Cove Acupuncture reached a significant milestone: 1,000 fertility-related acupuncture treatments delivered since Dr Christine Shen established the Lane Cove clinic. From IVF support cycles to natural conception programs, endometriosis management, and cycle regulation, these treatments represent hundreds of individual patients who have trusted us with some of the most significant health goals of their lives. We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us and remain committed to providing the highest quality fertility care on the North Shore.
Lane Cove Acupuncture is pleased to confirm the availability of paediatric acupuncture services for children of all ages. For younger children and needle-sensitive patients, we offer shonishin — the traditional Japanese non-insertive paediatric technique that uses specialised tools to stimulate acupuncture points without breaking the skin. Conditions commonly addressed include eczema, recurrent respiratory infections, bedwetting, childhood anxiety, and sleep difficulties. Parents are present throughout all paediatric consultations. Contact us to discuss whether paediatric acupuncture is appropriate for your child.
The Lane Cove clinic remains open through the Christmas and New Year period, with limited availability during the peak holiday weeks. Patients requiring pre-birth acupuncture, fertility support, or ongoing pain management during December and January are strongly encouraged to book early. Our online booking system is available 24 hours at the link above, or call reception directly to discuss scheduling.
