Crystal Therapy · TCM Meridian Philosophy

Where Ancient Wisdom
Meets Vibrational Healing

Chinese medicine has always understood that energy moves through the body in patterns. Crystals work with those same patterns — a natural complement to the acupuncture care you receive at Lane Cove.

Book a Treatment

Two Systems, One Principle

Traditional Chinese Medicine and crystal healing share a foundational insight: the body is not just biochemistry. It is energy — flowing, patterned, and responsive to subtle influence. When your acupuncture treatment opens and balances that flow, crystals can help sustain it.

Qì · Vital Energy

The Life Force

In Chinese medicine, Qi is the animating force behind every physiological process. Acupuncture needles regulate its flow through the meridians. Crystals, with their stable geometric structures and natural electromagnetic properties, are understood to interact with the body's Qi field — gently reinforcing what the needles begin.

Jīng · Meridians

The Pathways

Fourteen primary meridians carry Qi through the body, each governing specific organs, emotions, and physiological functions. Crystals aligned with particular meridians — by colour, frequency, or elemental affinity — can be placed along these pathways to support the work of your treatment. Many of our practitioners incorporate this during session.

Yì · Intention

The Mind Factor

The Shen — the spirit or mind — in Chinese medicine is as real a factor in health as any physical organ. Crystals used with clear intention become tools for focused healing: they invite the nervous system to settle, the mind to soften, and the body to receive. Between sessions, holding a crystal with conscious intention extends the therapeutic conversation.

20 Crystals, Each with a Purpose

Our crystal collection has been chosen to address the conditions most commonly treated at Lane Cove Acupuncture — pain, stress, sleep, fertility, emotional health, and energy. Each crystal is listed with its TCM meridian affinity and suggested use.

Clear Quartz
All Meridians · Master Amplifier

The universal stone. Clear Quartz amplifies the effect of every other crystal and supports the body's overall energetic coherence. In TCM terms it works on all meridians simultaneously, making it ideal to use alongside any other stone. North Shore patients with demanding, fast-paced lives benefit from its clarity-promoting, focus-enhancing properties between acupuncture sessions.

ClarityEnergyAmplification
Amethyst
Heart & Pericardium Meridian · Fire Element

One of the most clinically versatile stones in our collection. Amethyst works deeply on the Shen — the spirit housed in the Heart in Chinese medicine — and is particularly effective for insomnia, anxiety, overthinking, and the kind of stress that refuses to switch off. Its violet frequency corresponds to calm nervous system activity. Place on the Third Eye or hold before sleep.

SleepAnxietyCalm
Rose Quartz
Heart Meridian · Fire Element

The stone of the Heart meridian. Rose Quartz carries a gentle, consistent frequency that supports emotional self-regulation, softens the impact of grief or heartbreak, and encourages the kind of deep rest that acupuncture initiates. For patients undergoing fertility support, it creates a nurturing energetic environment aligned with the treatment's intention.

EmotionFertilityRest
Black Tourmaline
Kidney Meridian · Water Element

A grounding stone for the Water element. Black Tourmaline anchors excess nervous energy, protects against EMF exposure (particularly relevant for desk-based professionals), and strengthens the Kidney Qi — the constitutional root of vitality, immunity, and longevity in Chinese medicine. Ideal for chronic fatigue, adrenal depletion, or high-stress periods.

GroundingProtectionVitality
Citrine
Spleen & Stomach Meridian · Earth Element

Bright, warming, and energising — Citrine aligns with the Earth element and supports Spleen Qi, which governs digestion, metabolism, and the transformation of food and thought into usable energy. For patients working on digestive health, blood sugar balance, or post-illness recovery, Citrine reinforces the digestive warming that acupuncture and Chinese herbs provide.

DigestionEnergyPositivity
Lapis Lazuli
Liver Meridian · Wood Element

A stone with a 5000-year history of therapeutic use. Lapis Lazuli activates the mind, supports truth-speaking, and in TCM terms resonates with the Liver meridian — governing the smooth flow of Qi and the regulation of emotions, particularly suppressed frustration or unexpressed anger. Useful for headaches, eye tension, and menstrual irregularity.

ClarityLiver QiVision
Green Aventurine
Liver & Gallbladder · Wood Element

The "Stone of Opportunity" in crystal traditions; in TCM a Wood element ally. Green Aventurine supports the Liver's function of planning, decision-making, and directing Qi with purpose. It also has a long association with cardiovascular wellbeing, aligning with the Heart as a secondary resonance. Good for patients managing stress-related hypertension or digestive issues linked to frustration.

HeartGrowthBalance
Tiger's Eye
Spleen & Solar Plexus · Earth Element

Tiger's Eye builds confidence, mental focus, and physical resilience. For busy North Shore professionals, it supports the kind of grounded clarity needed to function under sustained pressure. In TCM it aligns with Yi — the intellect housed in the Spleen — and supports concentration, study, and organised thinking. Use during recovery from burnout or when willpower feels depleted.

FocusConfidenceResilience
Selenite
Governing Vessel · Crown Chakra Alignment

Selenite is one of the few crystals that cleanse other crystals and itself requires no clearing. It aligns with the Governing Vessel — the yang meridian that runs along the spine and governs the brain. For patients with neurological symptoms, chronic pain, or post-treatment integration needs, selenite wands placed along the spine create a deeply settling effect.

ClarityCleansingAlignment
Obsidian
Kidney Meridian · Water Element

Volcanic glass formed by rapid cooling — Obsidian is one of the most powerful grounding and truth-revealing stones. It corresponds to the Water element and Kidney meridian in TCM, drawing out deeply held fears, unprocessed grief, and patterns of self-sabotage. Best used consciously and briefly during meditation; not recommended as an all-day carry stone.

GroundingProtectionTruth
Moonstone
Conception Vessel · Yin Meridians

Moonstone is the pre-eminent crystal for the feminine cycle. It resonates with the Conception Vessel — the yin meridian governing reproductive function, hormonal rhythm, and the body's relationship with cyclical change. For patients undergoing fertility support, hormonal regulation, or menopause management, Moonstone creates a holding quality that complements the treatment.

HormonesFertilityCycles
Carnelian
Kidney & Sacral · Water/Fire Interface

Warm, vital, and energising — Carnelian stimulates creative energy, libido, and physical motivation. It sits at the interface of the Water and Fire elements in TCM, supporting Kidney Yang (warming action) and Jing (constitutional essence). For patients recovering from illness, postpartum depletion, or low vitality, Carnelian provides a gentle but effective energetic lift.

VitalityCreativityWarmth
Sodalite
Lung Meridian · Metal Element

Deep blue Sodalite aligns with the Lung meridian and Metal element in TCM — governing breath, grief, the skin, and the immune system. It is particularly useful for patients with respiratory conditions, skin issues, or the kind of emotional holding that manifests as shallow breathing or frequent sighing. Sodalite encourages rational thinking and clear communication.

BreathImmunityClarity
Fluorite
Liver & Triple Burner · Wood Element

Multi-coloured Fluorite is the stone of mental organisation and clarity. In TCM it aligns with the Liver's role in planning and the Triple Burner's function of coordinating Qi transformation through three body cavities. Excellent for brain fog, ADHD tendency, scattered thinking, and the cognitive fatigue that follows prolonged stress.

FocusBrain FogOrganisation
Labradorite
Triple Burner · Yin-Yang Pivot

Labradorite is the stone of transition and transformation — appropriate for any threshold experience. In TCM it resonates with the Triple Burner, which coordinates communication between upper, middle, and lower body. For patients navigating major life changes, hormonal transitions, or identity shifts, Labradorite supports integrated transformation without energetic overwhelm.

TransitionIntuitionProtection
Malachite
Heart & Liver Meridians · Fire/Wood

Malachite is a powerful emotional release stone. Its banded green surface resonates with both the Heart and Liver meridians in TCM — the pairing involved in emotional processing, blood storage, and the movement of feelings through the body. Use during grief work, trauma recovery, or whenever stuck emotion is contributing to physical symptoms such as tight chest, migraines, or menstrual pain.

Emotional ReleaseHeartDetox
Bloodstone
Spleen & Liver · Earth/Wood

A dark green stone flecked with red jasper. Bloodstone has a 3000-year tradition of use for blood disorders, vitality, and courage. In TCM it aligns with the Spleen (which governs blood production) and Liver (which stores blood). For patients with anaemia, heavy periods, post-surgery recovery, or general weakness, Bloodstone supports the body's regenerative processes.

BloodVitalityCourage
Aquamarine
Lung & Kidney · Metal/Water

Sea-blue Aquamarine bridges the Metal and Water elements in TCM — governing breath, kidneys, and the body's fluid regulation. It is soothing for the nervous system, reduces reactivity, and supports clear communication. For patients with anxiety-driven respiratory symptoms, tension headaches, or thyroid involvement, Aquamarine brings a cooling, clarifying quality to the energetic field.

CalmBreathCommunication
Pyrite
Spleen & Stomach · Earth Element

Iron pyrite — "Fool's Gold" — is actually a powerful Earth element stone. It builds confidence, physical endurance, and metabolic strength. In TCM it fortifies the Spleen and Stomach's transformative functions, supporting nutrient absorption, mental stamina, and the body's ability to turn food and thought into action. Particularly good for post-illness rebuilding.

ConfidenceStaminaMetabolism
Angelite
Lung Meridian · Metal Element

Pale blue Angelite works gently on the Lung meridian and its associated emotion — grief. In Chinese medicine, unexpressed grief contracts the Lungs and weakens the immune system over time. Angelite creates a calm, held space in which grief can be acknowledged and released. It is also one of the most deeply relaxing crystals for the nervous system — effective for chronic worry and hypervigilance.

Getting the Most from Your Crystals

01

Cleanse Before First Use

New crystals benefit from clearing before use. Place in sunlight or moonlight for 2–4 hours, run briefly under cool water (except selenite — water-soluble), or rest on a selenite charging plate overnight. This removes ambient energy and prepares the stone for your intention.

02

Set a Clear Intention

Hold the crystal in both hands. Take three slow breaths. State your intention silently or aloud — "support my sleep," "ease my anxiety," "strengthen my Kidney Qi." Intention focuses the interaction between your energy field and the crystal's stable frequency. This is the Yi — the mind — engaging with the process.

03

Align with Your Treatment Plan

Ask your practitioner which meridian or organ system your acupuncture is currently focusing on, then choose the crystal mapped to that system. Working in alignment with your current treatment phase amplifies the overall therapeutic effect rather than scattering energy across multiple goals.

04

Use During Rest or Meditation

The most effective time to work with crystals is when the body is receptive — during lying-down rest, meditation, breathwork, or the quiet before sleep. Place the stone on the relevant body area (chest for Heart meridian, lower abdomen for Kidney or reproductive concerns, forehead for headaches or clarity).

05

Carry Throughout the Day

Many patients carry a small tumbled stone in their pocket or bag as a touchstone — literally. Rubbing the stone during stressful moments (peak-hour traffic on the Pacific Highway, a difficult meeting) activates tactile grounding. The physical sensation interrupts the stress response and returns attention to the present body.

06

Recharge Regularly

Crystals accumulate the energy they absorb. Cleanse them after intense emotional processing, after illness, or at minimum once per month — on the new or full moon if possible. Keep different crystals separate if their functions conflict (e.g., activating Carnelian away from calming Selenite at night).
